The game’s events take place in Moscow, destroyed by nuclear war. Survivors have taken refuge in the tunnels of the Moscow Metro, which has become their only sanctuary from radiation and mutants that roam the surface. Players take on the role of Artyom, a young inhabitant of the metro, tasked with saving his home and possibly humanity itself. The main highlight of Metro 2033 is its atmosphere. The narrow, dark tunnels of the metro, eerie corridors, screeching rails, and whispers of the dark create a tension rarely found in other games. Each location is filled with detail: from dusty train cars to abandoned personal belongings, everything tells stories of the past and shows how people struggle to survive in this harsh world.
